Understanding the Drive Options for Garage Door Openers by Grubb Young
Every evening the noise of the garage door opening foretells the return of loved ones all over. Not all garage door openers are the same, though. When differentiating between them there are a few criteria to look at first, horsepower and then the type of mechanism that uses that power.

Horsepower relates not to the strength required to lift the garage door independently, but rather the force necessary to lift the door given all the pulleys and springs. The opener, be it mechanical or human, is merely breaking the pull of inertia on the door. The size, materials, and quality of the door will help one determine how much power is really necessary.

If the door is especially heavy or large, and therefore has more inertia; ones choices are limited. Chain drive garage door opener units provide the most power and durability. They are going to be noisy, but that noise is the result of a lot of horsepower pulling a large chain huanghaiyan3512. The mechanics are similar to those of a bike chain. These are generally the cheapest solution, but the noisy chain may not be a pleasant greeting every time one comes home. If the garage is not directly below or next to a bedroom this may not be a problem Parajumpers Thanksgiving Day.

Screw drives are a good option for balancing noise level and cost. They often have extra features to protect them against more extreme climate conditions, but truly the strength of these openers is their value to noise ratio. There are fewer moving parts and many customers will find the difference in noise from a chain drive to a screw drive to be more than enough to make the switch worth it. The screw drive moves the door up and down in the same way that a nut revolves around a bolt and moves up and down in the process.

If the device is located directly under a bedroom or some other consideration makes quiet performance a priority, a belt drive is the best option Parajumpers Thanksgiving Day. This type of drive is more costly than screw or chain drive, but the price of uninterrupted nap time may be worth it. These follow the same mechanical process as chain drives, but a belt like those found in most car engines is the moving part rather than a noisy, interlocking chain.

The three major types of garage door opener drive are all available for the Do-it-Yourself type as well as professional installation. Some models designed for professional installation offer enhanced noise buffering systems not offered. Some models will even offer a battery backup in case of power failure. These and other extra features will help one make a final decision, but understanding how the garage door opener functions will help anyone make a more educated choice.

The Ingenuity of Fire Pits: Tips on Buying, Use, and Safety Precautions by Desmona Fratere
I know youve already felt it: a cool settling into the summer night and the dimming of our trusty blue sky coming earlier and earlier. With summer too quickly reaching a close and cool Autumn on its way, its time to spark up the fireplace, and brace ourselves for chilly and chillier temps. But dont start batting down the hatches yet! With the ever-increasing popularity of outdoor fire pits, you can stretch the summer and fall nights out in comfort, and enjoy the beauty of nature a little longer, and a lot warmer!

Nowhow do you know what kind of fire pit is best suited to needs and lifestyle? Should you use wood or gas? What shape or design should you look for? And most importantly, how can you ensure that your new toasty outdoor fire is maintained and used safely? A fire pit is not quite a fireplace and not quite a campfire: its a completely different animal. Thats why weve included important tips on differentiating between kinds, shapes, functions, and costs, as well as including crucial safety tips for your fire pit.

 Permanent or Portable?

Before you even start researching outdoor fire pits, you must first check the city or zone ordinance to make sure they allow fire pits, what type of fire pits, and what the safety parameters are. Once this is done, your first step is deciding whether you could most benefit from a portable fire pit or one that is permanent. Portable fire pits are typically fashioned out of lightweight metal (Mexican chimneas are made of clay or cast-iron) and have a round design. These come with wheels for easy on-the-go activity as well as patio or backyard use. With this versatility, you can move your fire pit to the deck, patio, different areas of the backyard, or the garage with ease. Another priceless bonus, is that you dont have to leave the toasty warmth at home. Pack it into the truck or suv for the annual camping trip or take it on the road to a tailgating party. Because portables are made of lighter materials and require no-installation for use, they are the most cost-effective, no-hassle way to fight the post-summer chill: both on the road and in your backyard. The permanent fire pit (or specifically-engineered backyard or patio fire pit), otherwise known as a custom-built or stationary fire pit unit, is made from stone, brick, rock, or concrete; and to most, are the more asthetically-pleasing addition to a patio or backyard. Custom-built fire pits should rise 1-2 feet off the ground and have a middle-of-the-road diameter of approximately 36 inches for ample use and safety. Like portables, you can choose between wood or gas to heat the desired area, but most products are energy-specific, so be sure to double-check before buying. All in all, custom-built fire pits are much more expensive, due to professional installation, the attention to design, and the heavy-duty long-lasting materials needed; but will last you lifetimes (with proper and regular maintenance), and undoubtedly provide an equity boost in your homes value.

 Design and Shape?

The design and shape of your outdoor fire pit typically depends on whether you opt for portable or stationary outside fire pits. More often than not, the portables will be made of metal or copper, have a large round bowl design, and sit in a metal stand. Wood will be placed in this bowl-or if youre opting for a gas hook-up, ceramic logs or fake-burning coals-and the removable protective screen placed on top. As mentioned before, portables are more function than design, so their options are somewhat limited. Chimneas also fall under the category of portables, boasting the antique wood-burning stove look, but because they are smaller and allow a lot less heat to radiate out, are less practical. Custom-built or permanent fire pits, on the other hand, come in a host of shapes and designs, due to the fact that you are having the unit professionally-installed. Typically, you can find these devices in round, square, or rectangular configurations incumbent upon your material of choice (brick, stone, wood, or concrete), and they come equipped with a built-in steel screen siding and metal enclosure doors for enhanced protection when not in use.

 Wood or Gas?

Both portable and permanent fire pits will require either wood, gas, or both. If the fire pit you have your eye on prefers wood exclusively, it is most important to find out what type of wood. Some fire pits will burn regular firewood logs exclusively (aged wood is always the best choice rather than new or green wood), and so you will just buy the same type of cords you would for a fireplace. To avoid safety hazards and general maintenance of your fire pit, you should never try to burn a pressed wood or fire log (paper-enclosed quick-light). The reason being; that because firelogs are made from sawdust materials, they will burn hotter than a fire pit crafted for cord wood can handle. Some fire pits, however, will offer the versatility of burning cordwood, pressed wood, and firelogs; in its safety specifications. Just remember that, unlike regular wood, only one firelog should be burnt at a time. Also note that if a fire pits specs allows for pressed wood, it will be able to burn the somewhat comparable firelogs. The alternative to wood-fire is a gas hook-up. Gas will burn cleaner than wood, uses ceramic logs and fake burning coals, and can provide you with an almost-real look and warmth for your trip or patio Parajumpers Black Friday. The only catch with gas-powered outdoor heat is that it requires more close and constant attention, due to its limitless supply of flammable energy.

 Costs?

Cost is always a significant factor to look into when scouting for an outdoor fire pit. Portable fire pit units are the simplest, cost-effective solution to your outdoor heating. Depending upon the varying features and supplies the portable comes with, it will typically range anywhere from $150-$500. This is due to the fact that your portable fire pit is built of lighter and subsequently, less durable materials for easy transportation; and doesnt require the costly installation that a permanent or custom-built fire pit does. Portables are the perfect investment for people who want an outdoor, low-maintenance fire; but either cant afford the solid structure of a custom-built, or have yet to find a relatively-permanent home to properly reap the long-term benefits. Custom-built or permanent fire pits will call upon heavy-duty, all-weather materials such as stone, brick, concrete, or wood; and typically necessitate a space in your backyard of 15-20ft wide. Because of their lifetime permanence and varying backyard landscaping needed, professional installation is quite labor-intensive and can run you thousands. It all comes down to your particular situation, though. For most homeowners, the lifetime durability and projected use usually outweighs the cost huanghaiyan3512. But if cost is an issue, portables are the easy, cost-effective quick-fix to your outdoor heating whims.

 Dangers and Safety Precautions

We all love a good fire, but it is crucial to remember that it is a fire; and if we dont take the proper safety precautions and adhere to specific fire hazards, your fire pit could rage out of control, leading to property damage, sickness, and possibly death.

Always follows the manufacturers and professional installation experts specifications and direction for which energy source to use.

Fire pits should not be used on apartment building or multi-unit home decks due to clearance issues.

Ensure your permanent is installed a good distance from your home and anything combustible (typically your installer will automatically enlist this common sense issue, but if not, ensure that it has a good ten feet clearance).

Ensure you place your portable fire pit at least ten feet from the house, backyard miscellaneous, and trees i.e anything combustible. Also, with portable fire pits, it is necessary that you gauge the placement according to wind patterns and where the smoke will, therefore, be blowing.

Dont overfill your firepit with wood or wood substitute; or conversely, over-gas. Keep the fire small, contained and manageable.

Always use a screen cover to keep sparks and embers at bay.

It is necessary to note how close your fire pit sits to the ground. Lifted 1-2 feet from a non-flammable surface will keep a small to medium fire at a safe clearance, but remember that is the perfect height of unsuspecting and curious children and pets, so close supervision is crucial.

Always ensure that your fire is completely extinguished before leaving it unmonitored Parajumpers Black Friday. Even with proper safety clearance, a spark can become a raging fire in a split second, and reach all corners of your deck and backyard in no time.

It is also a must to get a fire extinguisher, because you are playing with fire, otherwise.

Teak Shower Seats, Why Choose Teak by Isabel Marant Black Friday Clarence Close

Teak Shower Seats, Why Choose Teak by Clarence Close
If I may move outside the locus of the shower for a moment, I would like to look for the perfect material to manufacture a shower seat, a bath mat or an accessory. These are typically used in the warm, soapy and wet environment of any shower, residential or commercial. So we ask, What are the specifications we should look for in a shower seat material?

We already have a description of some of the technical needs, so let us explore further into the specifics. Assuming it will be used in a residential setting, the material must be not only be functional but esthetically pleasing. As there will be bare skin in contact with surfaces, it must not splinter and it must be warm and comfortable Isabel Marant Thanksgiving. The proposed material should not be a maintenance headache. Possibly the most overlooked necessity, it must be strong to be safe. So now we can take a look and make valid comparisons, in no particular order:

Material, Iron, Aluminum, Plastic, Ceramic, Cedar, Teak

Rot Resistant, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, No, Yes

Esthetically Pleasing, No, No, Yes, Yes, Yes

Splinters, No, No, No, No, Yes, No

Warm, No, No, No, No, Yes, Yes

Comfortable, No, No, No, No, Yes, Yes

Low Maintenance, No-rusts, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, No-stains, Yes

Strength, Strong, Medium, Medium, Strong, Low, Strong

As we can see from the above comparison, teak is by far the best choice for use in the wet environment of a shower and bathroom.

How did teak get in the mix for furniture and accessories in the shower? Teak has been used for boat building in India since back to the Third Millennium BC1. Boats are constantly in a wet environment, subject to the whims of storm and the heat of calm, the battering of waves and the dragging onto the rocks and beach. So the material they were built from had to be suitable for the proposed use2,3 1. Rot Resistant, 2. Workable by hand, 3. Low maintenance, 4 Isabel Marant Black Friday. Strong2,3 and it had to float.

These are all excellent reasons to use teak for shower seats, bath mats and bathing accessories. The additional benefits of teak furniture are 5. Esthetically pleasing, 6. Does not form splinters, 7. Is warm to the eye as well as to the skin, 8. Comfortable and comes in a multitude of shapes only limited by the imagination of the designer and the joinery of the wood. So much for the engineering approach. In my next article we will delve into more reasons your best choice would be a quality built teak shower seat, teak bath mat, teak shower organizer and teak accessories.

1Exerpts from: Ancient Ship-Building & Maritime Trade by D. P. Agrawal & Lalit Tiwari

The beginnings of boat building technology in India go back to the Third Millennium BC, to the Harappan times.

The technology of boat building was a hereditary profession passing from father to son and was a monopoly of a particular caste of people. The local builders used the hand, fingers and feet as the units of measurements. In different places different kinds of boats were built for specific purposes. These boats may bear some similarity in material, techniques or in shape and size. For the construction of ship, the teak (Tectona grandis) wood is generally employed in India, though the selection of wood depends upon the nature and type of craft.

The main types of wood that are utilized today are sal, babul, ain, bibla, jambul and punnai, but the teak wood is always the best for ship and boat building and is preferred in Bombay too.

Secrets of www.bycegroup.com the Screw

20-11-2013 15:09

Secrets of the Screw I often see friends and fellow home-improvers using screws in their DIY efforts, and it never ceases to amaze me how hard some of these people find it to make a simple screw do what it's designed for. lets take a look at why. Of the two basic types of screw (Phillips cross head and the older 'traditional' slot head) the Phillips is gaining ground rapidly, due mainly to the fact that the extra cross-slot means you can apply more force and thus drive it into denser materials huanghaiyan121 More information please visit: www.bycegroup.com.You need both types of screwdriver in your toolbox, because believe you me, nothing ruins a screwdriver faster than using it on the wrong type of screw! But what type of screw to use? Let's focus on common plywood for a moment - a material we often use at because of its cheapness and versatility. You use number 8 screws for plywood up to 5/8th of an inch thick. Between 1/2 an inch and 3/8ths of an inch, you need a number 6. above that, try a number 4.To join 2 pieces of wood with a screw, follow these easy steps. Firstly, make a mark where you plan to do the screwing. Position the pieces together and fasten with a clamp or your mighty left hand. Depending on the job, you may be able to use your body weight thru your knee to hold the bits in place Isabel Marant Thanksgiving. If neither of these methods are practicable, and you intend to sit several screws, use the first one as an effective 'clamp' by tightening it firm before you start the other screws.Drill a quick pilot hole thru the bits. This pilot hole should be less than half the diameter of the screw you intend to insert. Handy tip - if you want to gauge the depth your have drilled, place a bit of tape on the drill bit.Countersink on the top piece of wood, so the job will look nice and sit flush. Insert the screw and tighten till the head is flush with the countersunk hole. Don't over-tighten or most modern self-tapping screws will start to 'chew up' the wood, and may even become loose! To hide the screw head (especially important on jobs where security is an issue!) use a dowel plug. You'll have to drill the countersink a little deeper for this, of course. After inserting the plug, simply sand it down level with the board Isabel Marant Black Friday.Handy tip to prevent splitting when screwing near the end of a board - drill a larger hole and insert a dowel, then screw into THAT instead of the wood itself. Easy huh? Till next time, happy screwing! More information, please visit:https://www.bycegroup.com/product/20132014Xmas-Isabel-Marant-Bayley-Concealed-Wedge-Sneakers-In-Purple.html

Mortgage Basics doudoune parajumpers

18-11-2013 16:57

Mortgage Basics Purchasing a home involves getting a mortgage. A mortgage is a written pledge of property used as security for the repayment of a loan. The property you purchase is the collateral for the mortgage. If you fail to make payments on the loan, the lender can repossess your home. As a result, the lender has some legal rights on your property as you pay off your mortgage. Unlike a standard loan, the mortgage is used to enforce the lenders rights to the property if the borrower does not repay the home loan. If the borrower does not keep up with his/her monthly mortgage payments, the borrower can obtain the home through what is called foreclosure. Foreclosure is the forced sale of a home or property that is pledged as security against a mortgage. The property is sold so the lender can recoup its losses on the loan.Home mortgage loans are offered commonly in 15 or 30-year fix rate periods. The term refers to the amount of time the lender allows for the mortgage loan to be repaid. Therefore, a 30 year loan spreads loan payments across a 30 year time span. The fixed-rate refers to the interest rate. The interest rate is a percentage of the loan the borrower must pay to the lender, in addition to the monthly payment, for lending them the money. In a fixed-rate mortgage, the interest rate does not change. It remains constant throughout the term of the loan. The actual amount of the mortgage is called the principal. When the borrower first starts paying off the loan, interest is paid off first, then the principal. For example, if the interest rate on your mortgage is 6%, and the loan amount is $100,000, you will pay in addition to the principal, $6,000 to the lender doudoune parajumpers. The lender includes interest into the monthly payments, however, the principal and interest isnt split 50/50 for each monthly payment. Interest is paid first; anything remaining goes toward paying off the principal. To figure out the percentage of your monthly that will go to interest payments, the lender takes your mortgage interest rate (6%) and breaks it down into a decimal (.06). Then the lender divides that decimal by 12 (.06/12 = .005) Parajumpers. Then the lender takes the new number and multiplies it by the principal of the mortgage (.005 x 100,000 = 500). The end result is the monthly interest rate payment. If your overall mortgage payment is $700, $500 goes towards paying off the interest, and $200 goes toward paying off the principal. However, as you pay down the principal, the actual dollar amount paid to interest vs. what is paid to principal changes each month. Your overall monthly payment doesnt change, but the ratio between interest-to-principal pay off does. For example, after you pay your first months mortgage payment, the next months payment is based on the principal being $99,800 ($200 less than the first month). So, when the formula is applied to the next months payment, the interest and principal payments are adjusted based on what is still owed ($99,800), the interest rate, and the established monthly mortgage payments.Fixed-rate mortgages arent the only home loans offered. Some loans have fluctuating interest rates while others have shorter terms. Most new home buyers stick with a fixed rate 15 or 30-year mortgage because there are no surprises; the interest rate and monthly payments remain the same.If youre about to buy a home, be aware of how your standard mortgage operates, and establish early on if you have the finances to afford a mortgage. If you get involved in a mortgage and later discover you cant afford it, it could cost you your new home.

How To Wash Trainers In A Washing Machine by Kate Owen

How Much Do Stair Chair Lifts Cost by Isabel Marant Dicker Boots Jai Gaitonde

15-11-2013 11:45

How Much Do Stair Chair Lifts Cost by Jai Gaitonde
Stair chair lifts are valuable additions to any residential or commercial building. In fact, they can be a cost-effective alternative to an elevator, which would require the installation of shafts, cable systems, cabins, and so on. The operation of a stair lift is simple it takes the user up and down a stairway at just the press of a button. The actual cost of a stair lift depends on various factors which are discussed below huanghaiyan121.

Stair Chair Lifts Factors determining Costs

The main factors on which the cost of stairlifts depends are:

Stairway configuration The type of stairway curved, spiral or straight is one of the main factors that influence cost. Installing curved stair lifts would involve a greater expense than setting up straight stairlifts.

Battery-operated Battery-operated models or DC models are more expensive than electrically-operated or AC stair lifts. DC models have the advantage that they can be operated even during power outages as they are battery-supported.

Additional features If you customize a stair lift, it would raise the price. For instance, you can have a lift that includes a wheelchair platform. You can also have it fitted with arms. These adjustments would result in a higher cost. In any case, features such as swivel seat, non-skid adjustable foot rest, safety braking system, obstruction sensors and seat belts are standard in almost all models.

Brands Going in for a good brand is would mean paying a higher price, but ensure good value for money. The technology and features incorporated raise the cost of stair chair lifts. Some of the quality lifts for stairs available from leading manufacturers include Electra-Ride Elite Outdoor, Electra-Ride III, Electra-Ride Elite, Step Saver, B.07, Flow II, Stair-Glide, and so on.

Installation The cost is also influenced by installation expenses. To get a clear idea about the expenses of the stair lift system, your buildings should be well-assessed by installation experts. If your stairlifts can be installed without much structural modification, it would cost considerably less.

Pre-owned Reconditioned or pre-owned stair lifts would cost less that new. Going in for a reconditioned model is a good option when you are concerned about your budget. Many dealers buy used lifts and revamp them to work like new before they are offered for sale. Make sure you look at the warranty options when you buy this lift.

Buy from a Reliable Dealer

When you buy a stair lift, it is important to consider the service charges, maintenance and repair costs, and the warranty that comes with it. You should take care to buy the device from a reliable dealer. Established suppliers have a wide inventory of leading models of stair chair lifts and would offer professional advice on the right one for your building and the costs involved.

Home Appliances, Select Them On Price Or Energy Efficiency

14-11-2013 20:11

Home Appliances, Select Them On Price Or Energy Efficiency For many people, price is the most important consideration when buying appliances. What they forget, however, is that there are two prices for anything which consumes power, the buying price and the running price.
